Instructors
The primary sessions of both tracks will be led by four outstanding instructors, with extensive teaching experience in the classroom and at workshops and conventions.
Valerie Tanke, a yearbook and newspaper adviser for 13 years before her 20+ year career as a Walsworth yearbook sales representative, will teach Track One. She taught in both city and suburban schools in Indiana, and was named Adviser of the Year by the Indiana High School Press Association. She frequently teaches at local, state and national workshops and conventions.
Cheryl Franzmann, an award-winning yearbook adviser at DeLand High School in DeLand, Fla., before becoming a Walsworth yearbook sales representative six years ago, will teach Track One. She has been a judge for NSPA and CSPA, and her yearbooks received five NSPA All-American awards and four CSPA Gold Medals. She is proud that her staffs never missed a deadline.
David Zinsmeister, a 1999 JEA Special Recognition Adviser, will teach Track Two. He is the yearbook adviser of the award-winning Crest yearbook at Manchester Junior/ Senior High School in North Manchester, Ind., His yearbooks have been awarded NSPA's Pacemaker and Pacemaker Finalist awards. Zinsmeister is a frequent workshop speaker.
Susan Massy, the 1999 JEA Yearbook Adviser of the Year, will teach Track Two. She is the yearbook adviser of the award-winning Lair yearbook at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Shawnee, Kan. Massy has been honored with the NSPA Pioneer Award and the JEA Medal of Merit, and her yearbook has earned the nation's top awards year after year. She is in demand as a workshop speaker.
Guest speakers will add their expertise throughout the workshop.
