Curriculum
The Academy offers two tracks to meet the needs of every adviser, plus the opportunity for additional sessions.
- Track One — Newer advisers will get the help needed to be successful. Topics will include basic yearbook skills, staff organization, staff motivation, deadline management, curriculum, ladder and book organization, creating a budget, theme development, coverage, design, grading, book distribution and legal concerns.
- Track Two — Experienced advisers can learn how to improve their publication. The curriculum will expose you to trends, fresh ideas and teaching strategies. Topics will include writing, design, photojournalism, coverage, theme development, book organization and scholastic journalism guidelines.
- Breakout sessions — Select from class choices that will supplement your core curriculum.
- Seminar Day — Sign up for in-depth class offerings or the Prepress and Printing and Bindery facilities tours in Brookfield and Marceline, Mo., on Tuesday.
The Tour
The more you understand how your book is produced, the more efficiently you and your staff can work to facilitate the printing process. During the tours of the Prepress and Printing and Bindery facilities in Brookfield and Marceline, Mo., see how pages go through the production and printing process. Meet key plant personnel and customer service representatives. Breakout sessions will supplement the tours.
