Don Walsworth joined Walsworth Publishing Company in 2000, a company founded by his grandfather in 1937. He and the Walsworth family have nurtured and grown the company into the industry force it is today. The importance of family is apparent in the many Walsworth yearbook sales representatives who share their territories with sons or daughters.
Walsworth oversees the company's four locations: the international sales and marketing office in Kansas City, Mo., prepress facility in Brookfield, Mo., printing headquarters in Marceline, Mo., and the magazine and catalog production facility in Saint Joseph, Mich He currently leads a technology initiative to tap into web-based technologies for yearbook creation, sales and community outreach.
"This is an incredible time to be in the yearbook business. We're all witnessing the launch of social networking, and the desire for people to be connected. The way we create yearbooks is evolving with technology, but the end result has withstood the test of time - a customized, permanent time capsule of their social experiences."
Walsworth began his career as a yearbook sales representative, working directly with school advisers, principals and students. He became president of the company in 2006 and is a member of the company’s board of directors.
Don holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, and has continued his education with executive courses at the Wharton School of Business.
Don and his wife, Shea, have two children, Tripp, 12, and Kate, 9. Away from work, Don has taught Sunday School at Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kan., and coached boys and girls YMCA basketball teams. He currently serves on the board of directors of Hallbrook Country Club and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization.
