The Walsworth story

Headquartered in Marceline, a town in north-central Missouri commonly known as the boyhood home of Walt Disney, Walsworth Publishing Company was founded in 1937 when three brothers—Don, Ed and Bill Walsworth started their own company printing playbills with a borrowed typewriter and a mimeograph.

Soon, the Walsworth product line was expanded to include cookbooks. Following World War II, memorial books were added to honor those who had served their country during the war. In 1947, Walsworth began to produce scholastic yearbooks, which soon became the company's primary business.

That business has continued to evolve, with Walsworth becoming the technology leader of the yearbook industry. The company has consistently stayed on the cutting edge in developing software plug-ins to work with programs such as Adobe® InDesign® and Photoshop®.

In recent years, Walsworth developed Online Design, the most comprehensive web-based yearbook creation tool; and launched ClassScene, the first media-sharing website devoted specifically to school communities.
